Parents
Kitchen Kids offers cooking classes for children in a home setting.
Children love to cook; they love to help; but in today's busy world we aren't
always able to take time to include them. As parents, we often see cooking
as another task to cross off in a long list of things To Do. We don't have time
to enjoy the process of cooking; we need to get it done.
There has been a lot of research done and press about the importance of eating "real food" - not processed. If we don't teach our children to be comfortable cooking, we aren't giving them the tools needed to cook "real food" for themselves.
Kitchen Kids to the rescue!
Not only will your child enjoy learning how to cook, it is becoming increasingly
evident that children who are taught to cook have healthy advantages now
and as they become adults.
Some of the "now" rewards are:
- Kids are more likely to try a variety of healthy food and learn what really goes
into the not-so-healthy foods.
- Cooking encourages responsibility through safety practices and time management
skills.
- Kids learn to plan ahead and see a project through (even the clean up!).
- They gain self-confidence when they see what they can contribute to the
family and their own care.
- Cooking is time spent in the home, but not in front of the computer or television.
Lasting benefits include:
- Acquiring useful skills they'll use perpetually.
- Kids who learn healthy eating tend to continue that, creating adults with the ability
to make good food choices and positive connections to food.
- They learn to handle lack of success - trial and error - and that mistakes aren't
always so bad! Cooking isn't all "master chef." Something may not be a “fave”
but could still edible.
- They learn the costs of food and the idea of MAKE DO.
